PROJECT:
JM Long Hospital 6th floor East Pediatrics Renovation, #19816
OWNER:
UCSF Stanford Health care
ARCHITECT:
The Office of Design and Construction
SCOPE OF WORK:
A cosmetic upgrade of the 6th floor of Long Hospital. The renovated
area was approximately 18,000 square feet. Work included new interior
finishes, new exterior windows, a nurses station, patient
rooms, two (2) new isolation rooms, and a conference area. In addition,
the floor received a new nurse call system and telemetry system.
As part of this project, main corridors were fire rated. The fire
alarm system recently installed as part of the general facility
upgrade was modified as required for new construction. The existing
elevators were provided with new 20 minute labeled doors activated
by hold-opens, to separate the open elevator lobbies from the elevator
shaft ways. The project site was connected to the Pediatrics ICU
which is used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thus it was imperative
that all dust and noise be kept to a minimum. The elevator lobby
was part of this project and was kept in use for the first 6 months
of this project. All deliveries of materials and personnel used
the freight elevators in Long Hospital. No parking or delivery area
was set aside for the project so all material deliveries were scheduled
in order to minimize time in the loading dock.
